From Behind the Wheel: A Century of keeping the World in Motion

In 1925, diesel trucks were a rare sight in Europe — and it was in that pioneering era that Georg Anneberg took to the road with a single Chevrolet truck and a visionary spirit. A hundred years later, that same philosophy drives a fleet of over 400 trucks operating across Europe. What hasn’t changed is who’s at the heart of it all: the drivers.
Then and Now: A Driver’s Evolution
In the early days, trucking was as rugged as the roads. Drivers like Georg — and later, his children — endured long hours, limited comforts, and minimal safety. But with each passing decade, new innovations emerged. Today, truck drivers benefit from climate-controlled cabins, ergonomic seating, advanced telematics, and rigorous EU working standards. The transformation isn’t just about technology — it’s about the dignity and well-being of one the most underappreciated link in the global supply chains.
At Transport Scandinavia 2025, we invite you to witness this evolution for yourself. Step between two eras: the original 1925 Chevrolet that started it all, and the cutting-edge 2025 Volvo FH Aero.
Step inside the 1925 Chevrolet truck and you’ll be transported to a time when trucking was raw and unforgiving. The cab is bare-bones: a wooden bench, exposed gears, a basic steering wheel, and almost no insulation from wind, dust, or cold. No seatbelts. Barely any dashboard dials or power assisted commands — just grit, muscle, and intuition. Now take a seat in the 2025 Volvo FH Aero and experience the opposite extreme. Here, you’ll find a fully digital cockpit with lane assist, emergency braking, and drowsiness detection. The truck is equipped with an alcohol lock for added safety, 360-degree cameras, and real-time telematics and GPS navigation through the Transics system. Beyond technology, it’s a rolling workspace and home: microwave, coffee maker, television, auxiliary heater, and a best in class premium air-suspended seat built for long-haul comfort. A century apart, yet side by side — see for yourself just how far the driver’s world has come.
Alongside these vehicles, you’ll find two mannequins — one outfitted in 1925 safety gear (or lack thereof), and the other in full modern PPE. It’s a powerful visual reminder of how far we’ve come in protecting the people who move the world.
Experience the Road — Virtually
For those who’ve never driven a truck but still have it on their wishlist, we’re offering a unique experience: step into the virtual cab with Euro Truck Simulator 2. Thanks to a generous partnership with SCS Software, the creators of this highly detailed simulator, Anneberg will host a VR truck driving simulation setup at the fair. This includes a full sim-rig with steering wheel, pedals, gear shifter, chair, VR headset, and a large projection screen for a fully immersive experience. While not a perfect replication of the physical strain or unpredictability of real-world logistics, Euro Truck Simulator 2 remarkably captures the core mechanics and challenges of truck driving: managing long-haul routes, following rest regulations, manoeuvring complex loads, and navigating Europe’s varied infrastructure. It’s been praised by professionals and enthusiasts alike as a game that not only entertains but builds understanding.
Want to try it yourself? You can either book one of the available time slots of download a free demo of Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Steam.
